Sunsets
I love sunsets and will spend time driving to find the best view. We have a place in Spokane, where I live, that has a spectacular view of the sunset. My favorites are when there are lots of clouds in the sky for the gorgeous colors to bounce off of. I love the oranges, purples, and pinks that the sunset produces.
I have been wanting to paint a sunset for some time now but have been tied up on other projects and haven't found the time. Sometimes you just have to make the time. Earlier this week I pulled out a photo reference that photographer Brad Starks gave me permission to use. He has a series of stunning sunset photos on his facebook page. I changed it up some to make it my own and this is the resulting painting. It is small, the image size is only 12 1/2" x 10 1/2", but I am happy with the results.
Now I am eager to go on and paint another sunset before I move on to other subject matter. I stretched two pieces of paper this afternoon and as soon as one of them dries I have another painting in mind. I can't wait to start the next one!
